Non-smooth dynamical systems have become an important subject of research in both pure and applied mathematics. The presence of non-smoothness often leads to interesting dynamical behaviour, some of which have smooth counterparts like fold-type or Hopf bifurcations, while others are specific to non-smooth phenomena, such as sliding and shattering. These systems are used to model physical problems like collisions, mechanical friction, impacts, and electrical circuits, and are also relevant in control theory, economics, and climatology.
